How to Set Up the Lift Mate Magnetic Sensor for Flex Stop Functionality

Want to take the guesswork out of operating your boat lift? With the Lift Mate Magnetic Sensor and Flex Stop functionality, your lift can automatically stop at predefined positions—improving both safety and convenience. Follow this step-by-step guide to install and configure your Flex Stop sensors using the Lift Mate system.

Important: Always ensure your lift is unplugged and powered off before beginning any installation work.

 Step-by-Step Installation Guide

Step 1: Choose Your Stop Locations

Identify where you want the lift to stop—typically a storage and boarding position. These will be the trigger points for your magnetic sensors.

Step 2: Mount the Sensor and Protect the Wiring

2.1 Clean and Prep the Mounting Surface

Clean the areas where you'll mount the sensor. Light sanding followed by a wipe-down with denatured alcohol helps remove debris and oxidation.

2.2 (Optional but Recommended) Use CORDMATE II C50 for Cable Protection

While not essential, protecting your sensor cable with CORDMATE II C50 Cord Channel by Legrand helps extend the system's life. This can be found online or at electrical supply stores.

  • Cut the channel to fit both sensor locations and the wire route to the control box.

  • Peel the adhesive backing and place the CordMate flush along the I-Beam or structure.

  • Snap open the CordMate cover to lay the wiring.

2.3 Mount the Sensors

  • Wired Sensor: Use the double-sided adhesive to secure the wired sensor inside the CordMate channel on the stationary structure (dock, I-beam, etc.). Ensure that no moving parts will come into contact with the wiring.

  • Non-Wired Sensor: Mount this part on the moving component of the lift (cradle, platform, etc.) so that the two sensor halves align closely—but do not touch—when the lift is in motion.

You can wire multiple Flex Stop sensors in parallel to set up multiple automatic stop points.

Step 3: Route and Connect the Wires

3.1 Route to the Control Box

Run the sensor wire inside the CordMate up toward the control box. Drill a small hole in the I-Beam flanges to feed the wire through.

3.2 Entry into the Control Box

  • Drill a small entry hole in the bottom of your control box.

  • Feed the sensor wire inside and cut off any excess, leaving enough to strip and connect.

3.3 Connect the Sensor

  • Strip the wires and attach them to the Sensor 2 terminals on the Lift Mate circuit board.

Final Step: Enable in the Lift Mate App

  1. Open the Lift Mate app.

  2. Tap the cogwheel icon (lower right) to open the tools menu.

  3. Go to Input Configuration.

  4. Scroll to Flex Stop Sensor Setting.

  5. Toggle it to ON (green).

  6. Close the settings.

That’s It!
You’ve now successfully installed and configured the Flex Stop feature for your Lift Mate system. Your lift will now automatically stop at each sensor position—making operation smoother, safer, and more user-friendly.
