No Wi-Fi? No Worries – Here's How to Use a USB Cellular Hotspot with Your Lift Mate

If your boat lift is located somewhere without Wi-Fi access, you're still covered. Lift Mate is designed to work with a USB cellular hotspot, providing a simple and reliable way to stay connected. Follow this easy guide to get everything up and running.

Step 1: Activate Your Hotspot’s Data Plan

Your hotspot arrives with a SIM card already inserted, so the first thing to do is set up your data plan:

  • Head over to my.simhero.com

  • Use the ICCID and Serial Number (found behind the SIM card holder)

  • Follow the setup instructions and choose your preferred data plan

Tip: For Lift Mate alone, a 100MB monthly plan is usually enough. If you also plan to connect a security camera, you'll want a plan with more data.

Step 2: Power It Up

Once your data plan is active:

  • Plug the USB hotspot into a standard USB power block

  • Place the powered device inside a weather-resistant enclosure near your boat lift

This setup ensures your hotspot stays dry and connected.

Step 3: Connect to the Hotspot Network

Check the label on the back of your hotspot to find your connection info:

  • Network Name: 4G-UFI-XXXX (where XXXX are four unique digits)

  • Password: 1234567890

Use these details to connect your smartphone or tablet to the network.

Step 4: Pair Your Devices

While setting up your Lift Mate and camera:

  • Make sure your phone is connected to the hotspot’s network

  • Use the same network credentials to connect Lift Mate and your camera during installation

Once setup is complete, you can disconnect your phone from the hotspot to avoid unnecessary data usage.

And You're All Set!

In just a few steps, your Lift Mate system will be online—even in remote areas without Wi-Fi. Whether you're nearby or away, you'll have full control and monitoring access through your mobile device.
